New Life Starts Now
Easter morning arrives with the most unexpected news in all of human history. The tomb is empty. Jesus is alive. Death, which seemed like the final word on Friday, turns out not to have been the final word at all. What looked like an ending was not an ending. The resurrection is the hinge on which all of human history turns, and the claim it makes is as simple and as staggering as it has ever been.
He is risen.
Not Only Someday
Easter is often understood primarily as future hope, the promise of eternity, the guarantee that this life is not all there is. And that is true and it matters enormously. But if we stop there we miss half of what Jesus actually said. “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10) Not someday. Now. The resurrection is not only about what happens after this life. It is about transformation that begins inside it.
He Showed Us How to Live It
Jesus did not only remove sin. He revealed a new way to live, and He lived it in front of us first. He showed us how to love people who were difficult to love. How to remain grounded when everything around Him was unstable. How to forgive without keeping score. How to face suffering without losing sight of the Father. That is not a model designed only for the afterlife. It is a model for everyday. For the conversation that went wrong. For the relationship that is wearing you down. For the season that feels like it is not moving.
The resurrection makes His life available to us now. Both things are better, not only what comes after but what is possible right now, in this life, following His example.
The Power That Is Already Present
We have a habit of deferring the benefits of faith to the future. Someday it will be easier. Someday I will be close to God. Someday the way I treat people without the reside of sin. But the resurrection declares that the power of new life is not on hold. It is present and active and available in the ordinary moments of today. Following Jesus changes how we respond, how we forgive, how we endure and how we hope, not eventually but now, as we stay close to Him and let His life continue to shape ours.
Already Underway
This is the life the resurrection makes available. Not a perfect life. Not a life without struggle or grief or difficulty. But a genuinely different life, one that is connected to the Father, guided by truth and shaped by love. One where the best is not only ahead of us but already underway.
Invitation
What would change if you truly believed new life has already begun? Not someday. Today. Is there an area of your life where you have been waiting for a future hope when Jesus may be offering transformation right now?
Light breaks through because life is not the same anymore.
